Dr Stuart Baker

Intensivist and Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine Specialist

Dr Stuart Baker is an experienced Intensivist and Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine Specialist.

Dr Baker has over 20 years of experience in Intensive Care Medicine, including work as director of ICU at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, and as director of ICU at Mackay Base Hospital. He is currently appointed as a senior staff specialist in Intensive Care at Redcliffe Hospital.

Dr Baker is also experienced in Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine, with work in both rotary and fixed wing aeromedical retrievals. He currently works part time coordinating aeromedical retrievals for the State of Queensland.

Through his career, Dr Baker has maintained interests in research, education and organ donation – holding posts as Director of Research at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital ICU, and having continuous involvement in numerous clinical trials through his career. He currently has an interest in recovery from critical illness, and is the medical lead for the first and largest ICU follow-up clinic in Australia and New Zealand. This service seeks to understand difficulties experienced in recovery from critical illness, and provides support and guidance to ICU survivors.

Early in his career, Dr Baker trained in surgery – becoming a neurosurgical trainee before deciding to pursue a career in Intensive Care Medicine. He also spent considerable time working in Emergency and Anaesthesia departments through his career.

Dr Baker has broad experience and is held in high regard in the ICU community. He is very experienced in patient sedation, has the skills and experience to deal with almost any adverse medical situation, and always prioritises patient safety and welfare.

Dr Nikhil Kumar

Intensive Care Specialist

Dr. Nikhil Kumar is an Intensive Care specialist and an expert in patient safety. With senior roles in Intensive Care across Hunter region, he is highly skilled in monitoring and caring for patients during complex procedures. Dr. Kumar brings his extensive hospital experience to our sedation service, providing our patients with the peace of mind that they are receiving expert, specialist-led care in a safe and relaxed environment.

Rafaela Damaceno

Business Operations Manager

Rafa is a qualified dentist in Brazil with five years of clinical experience before moving into leadership and operational management.

Her background in dentistry has given her a strong understanding of patient care, clinical workflow, and the importance of providing a seamless, safe experience in a healthcare setting.

Rafa now works as Business Operations Manager for the Dormir Group, where she supports the smooth running of day surgery services. She brings a practical, patient-focused mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating an organised, efficient, and positive environment for both staff and patients.

Courtney Morris

Executive Assistant

Courtney is the Executive Assistant at Brisbane Dental Anaesthetic Centre, with over six years of experience in the dental industry. She is passionate about patient care and clinical coordination, and her role involves organising clinic bookings, and supporting individuals throughout their pre-operative and post-operative journey to ensure they feel informed, safe, and well cared for at every stage.

Courtney enjoys being part of a compassionate and highly skilled team dedicated to creating a calm and reassuring environment. She takes pride in helping patients feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their care, and values contributing to a positive experience for both patients and the clinical team.

Sara Fletcher

Dental Assistant Team Leader

Sara is the Dental Assistant Team Leader at Brisbane Dental Anaesthetics Centre, with over 15 years of experience across all areas of dentistry, including general anaesthetics, implants, and oral surgery.

She is the go-to person for all dental-related needs, including instruments and consignment, supporting clinicians and their teams to keep daily operations running seamlessly.

Sara’s favourite part of her role is helping nervous patients feel comfortable, supported, and confident that they are in safe hands. She is currently completing her Diploma of Nursing, further expanding her clinical knowledge and commitment to patient care.

Jodie Wallis

Director Of Nursing

Jodie Wallis is the Director of Nursing at Dormir Group Surgical Centre, with a strong clinical background in Perioperative, Intensive Care Nursing and Education. Her experience in high-acuity critical care environments has shaped her calm leadership style and unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality care.

In her role, Jodie provides strategic and operational oversight of clinical services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining excellence across all areas of practice. She oversees all aspects of the organisation’s operations, aligning clinical governance, workforce management, quality systems, and business processes to ensure the seamless and safe delivery of care. She is dedicated to upholding best-practice systems while fostering a professional, collaborative environment that supports both staff and patient outcomes.

Jodie is passionate about delivering safe, compassionate surgical care and maintaining the high standards that underpin Dormir Group’s growing reputation for clinical excellence.

Elise Robinson

Registered nurse

Elise is a highly skilled registered nurse with 15 years of experience in Emergency Departments across both rural and metropolitan hospitals. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care and has built strong expertise in acute assessment, timely clinical decision-making, and patient advocacy.

In her role as a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit Nurse with the Dormir Group, she brings a calm, attentive approach and draws on her experience in airway management and early recognition of clinical changes to support safe, effective recovery care.

Elise values the opportunity to contribute her clinical knowledge to the Dormir Group and appreciates working within a skilled and supportive team.

Jared Gear

Registered nurse

Jared is a Registered Nurse and Infection Control coordinator specialising in perioperative nursing with expertise in Anaesthetics, Recovery, and Instrument and Circulating nursing.

His roles include patient care, overseeing infection control practices, education, clinical auditing, accreditation readiness, and continuous quality improvement to ensure best-practice care throughout the patient journey combining clinical expertise with leadership.

Jared is dedicated to fostering a safe, professional environment and providing excellent patient care.

Monique Freeman

Registered Nurse

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2021, Monique has experience as an anaesthetic and recovery nurse across both regional and metropolitan hospitals. 

As an anaesthetic nurse, Monique provides comprehensive perioperative support, including preoperative assessment and preparing patients for theatre, preparation of airway and anaesthetic equipment, management and troubleshooting, intraoperative monitoring and management, and directly assisting the anaesthetist.

Monique values the blend of technical expertise and patient-centred care the role of an anaesthetic nurse requires.

Charmonie Benson-Inglis

Dental Assistant

Charmonie is a Dental Assistant specialising in sterilising and instrument reprocessing, ensuring every setup is prepared precisely to surgeon preferences. She takes pride in maintaining high infection-control standards and supporting seamless clinical workflows.

Currently studying nursing, Charmonie is expanding her skills and scope of practice to better contribute to patient care within the facility. She enjoys the unique balance of technical expertise in the sterilising department and the patient-focused aspects of dental assisting, valuing both precision and compassion in her role.
